We believe the first priority in investing is to establish your financial goals. This can be accomplished through a detailed financial plan analysis, or at a minimum, through very open, direct dialogue. Asset management should be implemented within this context. By preparing a financial plan first, we do not have to worry about whether your true goals are being met.
Understanding planning and goals is critical. When considering investment objectives for a portfolio, we should think not in terms of making 20% a year or "beating the market," rather in terms of risk and reward within the context of your goals: how much risk we need to take in order to meet your goals. Furthermore, this information should be reassessed and updated as your life changes. We manage each client's investments with a strategy that is appropriate within the context of their overall portfolio and suitable for them given their investment experience, risk and return objectives, and general financial situation.
Security
Once we have established goals for your portfolio, we focus on assets to achieve these goals while keeping fees low and taking the minimum amount of necessary risk. Overall market trends and themes affect our investment decisions, not the daily news.
People generally want to grow assets, but at the same time want to protect them. We feel strongly that proper diversification and asset allocation are the only way to truly achieve this security in a portfolio. We believe the market is constantly changing and your portfolio should be designed to take advantage of - and protect against - current market conditions and major market moves.
Strategy
We keep a constant watch on trends in the economy, equity markets, and debt markets to allocate and adjust our approach to capitalize on current opportunities where appropriate. Our assessment implies different actions for different clients depending on their objectives and risk tolerance.
As an objective advisor, we have a wide universe of investments available to choose from with zero bias towards any one. We consider everything from small cap to large cap individual stocks and corporate or municipal bonds to mutual funds and ETFs in order to achieve the objectives we have set for our varying clients' portfolios.
Both technical and fundamental analysis is extremely important in our equity investment strategy. We screen for solid or ...fundamentals first (organic strength and growth), then use technical indicators to determine proper entry and exit points.
